Electrical Controls Engineer

J R Automation LLC is a growing engineering company located in Earth City, Missouri (St. Louis area) specializing in conveyor control systems.   Our range of services includes the complete documentation and design of control systems for widely varied types of conveyor based material handling systems.  These designs are centered on PLC based control solutions.  These solutions typically utilize drives, barcode, RFID, HMI (Human Machine Interface), and interfacing with other supporting systems.  Higher level PC control of the material handling system is also sometimes required to interface with a customer host system.  These systems also sometimes involve robotic palletizing applications.  We provide innovative and well executed solutions for our customers’ material handling needs.   J R Automation has been in business since 1984 and projects are located both locally and nationally.

We are expanding and looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team!  Some of the responsibilities include: Electrical Control System design with responsibility for creating written Description of Operation, complete schematic diagrams, PLC programming, HMI programming, WCS PC programming, and startup support for a variety of styles of conveyor based material handling and palletizing systems.  Included is direct interfacing with the end customer and providing training when the system is installed.  This is a challenging and very rewarding position which will require project leadership and a highly motivated person.  This position involves approximately 10% to 20% travel to jobsite locations or client offices.

Education – BSEE

Experience – 2 years minimum in control design for material handling systems.

Details:

• Electrical schematic design, PLC programming, familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC hardware/software is required
• Experience with carton and pallet conveyor controls including sorting systems, barcode, RFID, and HMI design is strongly desired
• Must have excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Must have the ability to handle projects from concept through commissioning
• Experience with Visual Basic, MS-SQL, .Net, and Object-Oriented programming is a plus.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• MS Office
